Larissa Young
I am mum to Jacob and Ksenia who are in year 2 and also to Dimitri who is in Kindy. I have been living in Karrinyup since 2000. A fun fact about my connection to Karrinyup Primary School is that my younger sisters actually attended from 2000- 2005 and my mum used to help out at the canteen when it was still being run at the school.
I currently work at 12 Buckets which is a small children's charity supporting students to remain engaged in their education through mentoring. We focus on Safety and Connection in the first instance which then sparks the students’ curiosity and creativity meaning their opportunities for success are endless. I am a strong advocate for inclusive communities as I believe that when we understand the experiences of all our members we can ensure that there is space for everyone.
I have strong links with the City of Stirling and have recently been appointed as part of their Access and Inclusion Committee as well as Carers WA as I am part of their Carers Working group. The strengths that I can bring to the board are a neuro-divergent perspective, diversity and inclusivity support, grant writing and creating stronger linkages with local and state government to ensure that Karrinyup Primary School is able to continue to develop and strengthen its amazing education to our students and support all of our Teaching and School staff.
